ABOUT

Hi my name is Megan Baker and I am a young artist currently studying at Curtin University.

I'm interested in creating all kinds of art.

I specifically love the challenge of working towards a brief and am not scared of creating big, bold and bright pieces.

 

The highlights of my work over the years have been:

2019:

  • Yours Sincerely Manning Community Exhibition Box show from February to July 2019

  • Overall Sculpture winner of Hypervision art awards.

  • Recipient of the Nexus Art grant from DADAA.

  • 1 of 25 young artists featured in the Fremantle 25 under 25 youth art awards.

  • Invited and participated in Loren Kronemyer creative Lab that ran along side her FAC preppers show.

  • Commissioned by the City of Vincent to design and facilitate a community canvas painting at Pride Breakfast event.

2018:

  • Pride Personified Lightbox Laneway Gallery show November and December 2018.

  • Commissioned by City of Vincent to paint a traffic box.

  • Overall Traditional winner of Hypervision art awards.

  • Overall short film winner of Hypervision art awards.

  • Finalist in the Rockingham art awards.

  • Finalist in the City of Vincent youth portraiture competition.

  • Part of the Goshi yellow exhibition during youth week.

  • Part of a group show at UWA.

  • Part of the sketchbook project tour of WA libraries. 

  • Commissioned by PMHF to be part of the big splash WA.


2017:

  • Cover art on the City of Nedlands "The Buzz" community brochure. 

  • Featured artist on Goshi website.

  • Was commissioned to do a live painting by Hypervision at Midland gate shopping centre.

  • Overall winner of Hypervision experimental art award.

  • 2 finalist pieces in the traditional Hypervision art awards.

  • Created a colouring book to help with fundraising for local support group Chrysalis.

  • Contributed to the Curtin University illustration club colouring book.

  • Part of the City of Perth wrapping up graffiti program.


2016:

  • Had work exhibited in the Fremantle Map shop negotiating space exhibition. 

  • Received a special mention in the Nedlands emerge youth art awards.

  • 1 of 25 young artists featured in the Fremantle 25 under 25 youth art awards.
